Summary

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St。 Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said。 “Either you’re his true love 。 。 。 or you killed him。”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive。

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past。 Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her。

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school。 Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys。 Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble。

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain。 He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that。 He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little。

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die。 She never thought this would be a problem。 But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore。

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before。

Simplistic, slow, boring, childish, melodramatic Didn't read like a YA more like junior fiction, would definitely say its for younger readers。 I actually didn't finish this book it was so slow, boring and young that I gave up。 However as much as I disliked it and don't think it's earnt the hype that it has, I would say that it would be good for the 10 - 14 age bracket。 Simplistic, slow, boring, childish, melodramatic Didn't read like a YA more like junior fiction, would definitely say its for younger readers。 I actually didn't finish this book it was so slow, boring and young that I gave up。 However as much as I disliked it and don't think it's earnt the hype that it has, I would say that it would be good for the 10 - 14 age bracket。 。。。more

Omg, I'm utterly giving it 4 stars。It was amazing, I got to admit。 Of course, considering the time it was published, but it was really good。I loved it, I love the characters and the Raven Boys are so fun and interesting, and Blue is quite a girl。 So relatable。I don't know if the reason I enjoyed it so much is because of Will Patton (the narrator) and all the audiobook production, maybe it just made itself better but the story, the plot, the characters, the dialogues, everything was nice enough a Omg, I'm utterly giving it 4 stars。It was amazing, I got to admit。 Of course, considering the time it was published, but it was really good。I loved it, I love the characters and the Raven Boys are so fun and interesting, and Blue is quite a girl。 So relatable。I don't know if the reason I enjoyed it so much is because of Will Patton (the narrator) and all the audiobook production, maybe it just made itself better but the story, the plot, the characters, the dialogues, everything was nice enough and I was never bored。 I would definitely like to read it, like really read it so I can understand it a little bit better but I'm definitely gonna read -or rather listen- to the other three books on Spotify, definitely。And that last line, Ronan being Ronan, oh god。 Can't wait to start the next one。 。。。more

So I'm giving this four stars。 I thought this was a really good start to the series。 It was really well paced, and I found the writing beautiful。 I guess my only compliant with it, is that it just felt like nothing really happened。 In my opinion, this first book really just set up a lot of the plot and ongoing conflict for the rest of the series。 And I know that this is a four book series and there isn't supposed to be a lot of resolution in the first book, but the ending just felt really open-e So I'm giving this four stars。 I thought this was a really good start to the series。 It was really well paced, and I found the writing beautiful。 I guess my only compliant with it, is that it just felt like nothing really happened。 In my opinion, this first book really just set up a lot of the plot and ongoing conflict for the rest of the series。 And I know that this is a four book series and there isn't supposed to be a lot of resolution in the first book, but the ending just felt really open-ended。 If that makes sense。 Overall, I really liked the book。 I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series!

Shvaćam zašto je autorica to napravila i JEDVA ČEKAM vidit njezin character development。 Također jedva čekam pročitati ostale djelove i jako sam uzbuđena za Adama i Ronana, Blue i Ganseya (slowburn frenemies to lovers, you know I’m a whore for that) Upravo sad shvaćam kako mi je hrvatska gramatika čisto smeće。 Sve je to za ljude。。。valjda :D 。。。more

This was such a sweet story。 It's been a while since I actually liked a middle age book。 I usually get bored pretty quickly, but this was so good。So, this tells the story about a girl, Blue, who comes from a family of psychics and has been told all her life that she's going to kill her true love if she kisses him。Then we have this group of boys from Aglionby Academy, a school for rich boys。 Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah are super close and they spend every free minute to search for the ley lines This was such a sweet story。 It's been a while since I actually liked a middle age book。 I usually get bored pretty quickly, but this was so good。So, this tells the story about a girl, Blue, who comes from a family of psychics and has been told all her life that she's going to kill her true love if she kisses him。Then we have this group of boys from Aglionby Academy, a school for rich boys。 Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah are super close and they spend every free minute to search for the ley lines and Glendowre, which for other people is just myths and tales。 Of course, they cross paths and keep the search together。 She to save her true-love-to-be and the others to find Glendower。There's magic, there's family, but most importantly, there's friendship which is such an important part of this book。 Every single character in this book comes from a different place, have their own problems, fight their own fights but they always care about each other and suffer eachother's looses。 It's so heartwarming I just loved it so much。 。。。more

I loved the premise, the magical elements, the mythological aspects and I grew somewhat attached to the characters, but all put together, it just didn't work for me。 I didn't like the writing at all and I struggled to motivate myself to finish it, but funnily enough, I might consider reading all the books in the series just because I want to see how it all unfolds。 Or I might just read the spoilers instead (oops)。 I loved the premise, the magical elements, the mythological aspects and I grew somewhat attached to the characters, but all put together, it just didn't work for me。 I didn't like the writing at all and I struggled to motivate myself to finish it, but funnily enough, I might consider reading all the books in the series just because I want to see how it all unfolds。 Or I might just read the spoilers instead (oops)。 。。。more

Okay, I may be the last person on Earth to have read this book, but at least I finally did it! And it wasn’t a bad experience at all, but I just had too many expectations。To start with the negative, I found the language overly metaphorical, aimlessly so。 This was painfully apparent at the beginning, where I needed more clear descriptions and less flowery writing。 That’s to say, the first 50 pages were a hell to get through, and at times felt unedited。But generally, the book was fairly enjoyable。 Okay, I may be the last person on Earth to have read this book, but at least I finally did it! A Solid 4⭐️!! At first its kinda hard to grasp, especially if you just finished a really good series prior to starting this book, HOWEVER, I LOVED THIS BOOK! 3。5。 This book is so much better when they shut up about Blue's romance problems。。。 though unfortunately that makes it all the more annoying when it does come up。 It was a dumb cliche premise, and if it were the actual main plotline of the book, I'd have dropped it。 Honestly, who thought that would be a good way to hook readers? Also I'm so glad Blue wasn't the main focus the whole way through。 She seems to have the least to offer in way of character depth, interesting backstory, etc。 Like。 I ge 3。5。 This book is so much better when they shut up about Blue's romance problems。。。 though unfortunately that makes it all the more annoying when it does come up。 It was a dumb cliche premise, and if it were the actual main plotline of the book, I'd have dropped it。 Honestly, who thought that would be a good way to hook readers? It was a good and interesting story line。 I am keen to read the rest of the series。 I thought the character development at the start of the book wasn't as good as it could have been。 It took a while to really be able to differentiate the different Raven Boys。 They were a muddle in my head to begin with。 Also some other parts of the story line are also not well described or explained。 I needed a bit more clarity around the final events of the book。 It was a good and interesting story line。 I am keen to read the rest of the series。 I thought the character development at the start of the book wasn't as good as it could have been。 It took a while to really be able to differentiate the different Raven Boys。 They were a muddle in my head to begin with。 Also some other parts of the story line are also not well described or explained。 I needed a bit more clarity around the final events of the book。 。。。more

i’m giving this book two stars because none of it made sense。 the story was flimsy at best and i didn’t understand most of it。 I was trudging through it and forced myself to finish it (barely) as much as i wanted to love the characters i felt likenone of them had much depth

This book takes a long time to get started。 In a way, I feel like this works as the first act of a larger cycle。 Stiefvater spends a lot of time setting things up and alluding to things that will happen later, but it’s not until the last third (or maybe fifth) that I feel like anything really happens。 Once things happen, it goes quick, but if not for the end this would be a 2 star book。 But I can’t judge a book by only part of it, so I end up giving it about 3-3。5。 And I’m convinced enough that This book takes a long time to get started。 In a way, I feel like this works as the first act of a larger cycle。 Stiefvater spends a lot of time setting things up and alluding to things that will happen later, but it’s not until the last third (or maybe fifth) that I feel like anything really happens。 Once things happen, it goes quick, but if not for the end this would be a 2 star book。 But I can’t judge a book by only part of it, so I end up giving it about 3-3。5。 And I’m convinced enough that I think I’ll keep going。 。。。more

This book was absolutely incredible。 It was so well written and made me feel as if I was apart of the story。I fell in love with every single character in this book, Gansey, Ronan, Blue, Adam, Noah and more!!
